The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) presents Women in Construction (WIC) Week, March 7-13, 2021.
WIC Week highlights women as a viable component of the construction industry. It also emphasizes their growing role in the industry and raises awareness of the many opportunities available to them.
In celebration of WIC Week, the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) is proud to recognize women in leadership positions in the EIFS industry. Each day this week, EIMA will highlight a female leader from within its membership.

How long have you worked in the construction industry?
3 ½ years technically, but I was born into it with my uncle and cousin’s welding and pipeline business. I have fond memories helping dig with the excavator when I was younger!
What do you like about working in the construction industry?
Honestly, I love how rough and rugged it is. Even though I have a “corporate” job, it’s not your typical 9-5 business attire office because that’s just not how our industry operates. Also, growing up in WV, I feel like I can just be myself and don’t have to be prim and proper all the time. I love going to our subsidiary locations and job sites, wearing all the PPE and getting my hands dirty. There is never a dull moment in this industry!
What changes have you seen in the role of women in the construction industry over the years?
I’m seeing an increase in women on the front-line level. You will always see females in a human resources or accounting capacity (behind the scenes), but I’m pleased to see more women on the job site as architects, contractors, surveyors, etc.
What advice would you offer a woman considering a career in the construction industry?
Three words: go for it. Just because the construction industry is seen as male dominated doesn’t mean there’s not space or a need for more women in it. If there’s even an ounce of your being that’s curious about the industry, reach out and talk to someone. You never know how your past experience in other industries or passion for home DIY projects could turn into your dream job.
